Great picture, horrible monitor.
I purchased this monitor with the hopes of cleaning my desktop off (multiple monitors) and just generally streamline my workflow. This monitor impeads any work progress I have with its constant problems, quirks, and annoyances. First off good luck actually getting full resolution without having to buy a number of different cables and adapters just to get it to run a full rez. I have a brand new Mac Studio M4, and a (2024)NorthWest Falcon Talon PC. I have a spaghetti mess just getting them to connect ( also there are very few ports so if you have more than two comp, good luck) . Staying connected is another matter, for no apparent reason (my previous LG monitors had no issue) this monitor will disconnect and warn of a lost signal. I am not clear why it does this but it will not reconned until I power down and disconnect/re-connect it physically from the computers. The monitor has a screen protection solution that is intended to prevent burn in. What it really does is move your screen around and off of the visible space, again requiring a physical power cycle to correct and then a 10 minute sequence that renders your screen unusable. This happens 4 to 5 times a week in a 60hr usage span. Long story short prepare yourself to play Frankenstein rewiring, unplugging, messing with options every couple of days just to use it. On top of all of this is the monitors options settings are constantly reminding you of them. There is a stream of overlay graphical option sets that will randomly appear and can not be cleared and must time out. There are no options to disable this and are a constant irritation as the overlays block my access to my system tray … and basically require me to stop what im doing and wait the 3 min until they disappear. When you can get it to work correctly the screen and resolution its wonderful, but be prepared for frustration to achieve that. I will not be buying another Samsung monitor/tv/ anything again.

Great monitor wish i had waited for a deal but I used it everyday no issues. The screen optimization gets a little annoying when you use it alot but I’ve had no issues. Also no overheating and I use it constantly. Great product and the reason I always will choose Samsung from now on when buying monitors or tvs.

Best display since 1080 HD displays were introduced
I’ve had dual 30in 4K displays side by side for two years and they’ve performed very well. But there’s always that gap between them that was annoying, always trying to keep them together tight, and aligned. And dragging windows between them, if a window was in between, not useful as there’s that 1 inch black line through the window, unless the window is fully on one display or the other.The Samsung G9 series is a huge upgrade! This display has it all, It’s sleek, has outstanding picture, color, and resolution. And more inputs and features than you can throw a stick at! Not having that separation line between displays, letting you have a window in the center of the screen is a bigger deal than I had thought it would be! After switching to the Samsung G9, I won’t go back.But know the capabilities of your video card! You can’t expect to connect a display with a native resolution of 5120×1440 on your five year old laptop or desktop!Even fairly recent laptops simply cannot display such high resolution unless you have a really high end laptop with a high end GPU. Most should be using a desktop with a solid video card, and they aren’t cheap. So check your specs, it’s easy to find out the max resolution your machine and its video card will support. Mine is a high end Dell desktop with an NVidia 4080ti video card which easily handles this display.And while some complain that the integrated Smart TV functions are annoying, I actually like them. If these annoy you, you can turn them off. I setup all the functions for both my PC display and Smart TV functions and it was very easy. And it was also just as easy to set it to the PC input, where it would remain unless changed. And when my machine sleeps, the display sleeps as well, and wakes right along with my desktop.All things considered, while I use it mainly as my PC display for both work and gaming, but I really love being able to pull up the Smart TV apps as well. I’m glad I didn’t get just a wide display, the Smart functions really give it versatility that’s right on tap. It’s a 5 star display for me without question. Samsung displays and TV’s have always been the best! I don’t see how anyone could go lower unless they didn’t check their video card capabilities first.

CAUTION! Brand new MacBook Pro does NOT support this screen size (older MacBook Pros did, new ones do not). I returned the one I purchased after spending hours researching how to get it to work.
