The Sidewinder Stalk military helmet lighting system is designed to put light exactly where you need it with multiple mounting options and a flexible stalk to direct the beam. Equipped with White, Red, Blue, Green, and IR LEDs, along with an IR/IFF beacon, it offers versatile lighting solutions for various tasks. Each LED features low, medium, high, and strobe modes, and the separate Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) switch allows you to operate both the main light and IFF as needed. The white LED provides 76 Lumens on high with a 5.6 Hour runtime using a CR123A battery or 57 Lumens with a 6 Hour runtime on AA batteries. The Sidewinder Stalk can be mounted on any combat, vehicle crew, or aviation helmet system, MOLLE vest platform, or attached directly to the brim of a patrol cap. It features a push-button power switch and a pull-to-turn rotary selector knob, preventing accidental mode changes and enabling easy LED color selection. Rated IP67 for dust-tight and waterproof performance to 1 Meter, it meets MIL-STD-810H, Method 512.6 for durability. The high-impact nylon construction, gasket sealing, and corrosion-proof design ensure exceptional weather resistance and reliability in tough environments.

The brightness receives mixed feedback – while some say it lights up a room, others find it very dim. The light throw and mountability also get mixed reviews, with one customer noting it’s effective up to 15-20 feet, while another mentions it’s only good for closer work. The strength and value for money aspects are also mixed, with customers describing it as rugged and offering excellent value for the price.

    Streamlight 14307 Sidewinder Stalk
I have been running this light on my helmet for the past year and it has held up really well. The IR on it works better than I thought when purchasing. I have also used this light on my hats while camping with my family. The battery life gets roughly 30 hrs of use. The light is surprisingly strong for the size of this thing. The light throw is effective up to 15-20 feet and the IR is roughly the same. It is a nice light in a small form factor and has many use cases. This is an essential to anyone’s kit.

    Great little light
Very happy with this light and its multiple functions. Looks cool, which is half the fight but actually works great. It’s a little pricey, but good gear ain’t cheap and cheap gear ain’t good. Marine approved.

    It does the job…
It is easy to operate, multi color lamp: white, red and blue (my favorite colors) in high and low brightness. The IR light is very low, I will need to buy another IR light, but it does the job I like it and it looks cool.

    Great product
Simple to use product that is very straight forward. Tested the white and red light thus far and they work really well. Currently have this mounted to my helmet via the velcro and have not hand too many issues with it coming loose (only once during training). Other than that, this is a good tool, especially for the price

    Great design
It’s great in a zero light environment. But it’s not bright enough in medium to low light environments. The IR IFF beacon works great. The IR illuminator is about the same brightness as on the PVS-14. The switch is very intuitive. The flexible boom on the light is a game changer. It allows you to keep your light signature localized while performing tasks. I really like the high, medium, low option. I don’t think that the blue light option is bright enough to follow a blood trail though.

Very versatile, easy to use, well priced
I bought this to replace my x2AA Sidewinder, but decided to keep both. The Stalk is better for use with night operations since it has a built in IR strobe identifier, but it lacks the spotlight throw distance of the original. The light on the Stalk is much more diffused, which I think is better for navigating or simply lighting up a room. It easily lit up a 2 car garage with almost no dark corners like a floodlight. Whereas the original has a confined beam, but with an additional brightness setting (4 vs the Stalk’s 3). If you can only get one the Stalk would do you better being more versatile, but if you’re looking for something more like a typical flashlight that shines over distance then go with the OG.

Check to see if this mounts on your helmet!
Does NOT clip into mount on IHPS helmet. Description was not clear. Light is pretty dim.

    Versatile, intuitive, and feature packed
I’ve used a bunch of similar products since the early 2000s (from Princeton Tech, Surefire, and others) but none have the feature set that this Streamlight packs. The flex arm is perfectly tensioned and allows full 90 degree bends, while the LEDs have extensive adjustment from dim to plenty bright, so both quite-usable white umbrella lighting or barely-visible red (or blue or green) map reading light is possible using the same product. Plus, there’s an infrared light and beacon, which eliminates the need for separate devices on one’s helmet. The IR setting on the twist dial has a raised hump to distinguish it from other modes, and the IR beacon is simple to actuate but includes a manual safety to prevent inadvertent activation.I decided to go with the velcro mounting solution, though I considered using the ARC rail and MOLLE connection method. I couldn’t find any faults with any of the methods. The ability to use either AA or CR123A batteries without any tools or adapters is just icing on the cake. This is the best-designed multi-use military / LE utility light and strobe that I’ve worked with. I bought two.
