Using cutting-edge, 3D laser-scanning technology, structural engineer Steve Burrows leads his team of experts into the Peruvian jungle to scan the sacred Inca city of Machu Picchu, asking three main questions: How did the Inca build a city atop a mountain ridge? How were the terraces constructed? And how did they supply water to the city? Join the team as they turn back time and decode the past.

Interesting & Scientific Look at Machu Picchu!
My husband and I recently visited Machu Picchu & I bought this DVD. We enjoyed it a lot, and the science behind it was compelling. We recommend as it is well done and interesting. Itâs not so much about Machu Picchu as a tourist site, but more on the Inkaâs advanced building skills and this siteâs building marvels.

Great PBS Show
I enjoyed this show a lot. Itâs one of the best Machu Picchu documentaries Iâve watched. My favorite part was the information about Huayna Picchu. Not too many documentaries Iâve seen go into much depth about this mountain.

Very informative.
Very interesting and amazing work on a mountain to build this place. Useful also for grandchild for her archeology class.

Very interesting overview of the sophisticated engineering employed by the Incas in their construction of Machu Picchu. My only criticism would be regarding my experience of the generally hyper-exciting narrative style, which many programs (e.g. Nova) seem to employ to make scientific investigations dramatic. The “drama” is unnecessary and distracting; in fact, after a time it becomes tedious. Insofar as science is meant to be disinterested investigation of facts and testing of hypotheses, all this emotion (while it makes for good television) gets in the way of promoting a deeper understanding of the subject at issue.Nonetheless, the exposition of the facts they’ve found and the interpretive suggestions they may indicate is pretty fascinating.
