Almost perfect!
I love seeing more smart devices get Matter support and TPLink has been slowly giving it to a lot of their smart devices which makes setup through Apple HomeKit a breeze. These plugs are a great value and may be the only ones I’ve found that support Matter and also provide power metering. Unfortunately, you can’t see any of the power info through the Apple Home app. That’s probably a limitation of the HomeKit API/Home App in general though. The Tapo app is intuitive to use and shows helpful power metering data for these plugs. I have mine connected to my home server UPS so I can monitor the power used from all of my home networking devices, NAS, and proxmox mini PC cluster. If power metering can be visible through the Apple Home app one day, this will be a perfect product. It’s a bummer that I have to deal with another app for that functionality but it’s by no means a deal breaker.

Excellent, get the 4 Pack!
These plugs do it all. The Tapo app already has my cameras so adding these was very easy. I highly recommend this model because it shows power usage monitoring and statistics. They only cost a little more then then the other basic tapo smart plugs so its worth the money. The plugs respond very quickly compared to other brands I own. The adapters are average size and tou may need to buy socket adapters if your using a UPS, surge protector, or power bar. Cyber power sells great ones for $3. These are the best smart plugs ive found so far and the app works great with them.

Better than a Kill A Watt, integrates easily with Apple Home.
Seamlessly integrates with Apple Home. One click QR code setup. App is simple, easy to use. Setup is clean. I was going to buy a Kill A Watt, but I get 4x the monitoring.On the app, you can set your actual power cost, including anything related to time of use metering, so you can calculate your actual power cost per outlet to track electricity use. The ONLY thing a Kill A Watt will do better is show you power factor for reactive loads. That is interesting from an academic perspective, but doesn’t really give me any information I need.

BEST smart plug I’ve ever owned, with excellent software
I’ve been using smart switches, plugs, and outlets for over 10 years and these are THE BEST I’ve ever used. To get the most value out of them, you need to use the Tapo phone app, which is easy to use and works great. The app can update the firmware on the plugs, which is a must-have for security. The app can also create scheduled routines to turn on and off the plugs, but I use Google Home for that. Overall these hit all the key quality categories like high quality build, easy software setup, and easy to follow instructions for setup and energy monitoring.PRO TIP: plug in only ONE plug at a time and set it up (i.e label it in the app for the location and/or appliance). If you plug them all in at the same time during setup, it will be much more confusing.

Once you buy one tapo it’s like Pringles you can’t stop I love these things they are awesome they tell you your current wattage output daily kilowatts use time on you can schedule off and on time all sorts of other cool stuff I would recommend these to everyone that enjoys automated systems.

GREAT FOR MONITORING AC COSTS….
After my Central AC died, I added two additional LG 6000 BTU window AC units with my first LG unit installed in my kitchen window, (June 2000), primarily for backup AC when a Florida hurricane would kill the power. I bought the four pack of these smart plugs to monitor the cost of each of the three window AC units which were now being used 24/7 in the HOT Florida climate with temps reaching 95-98 degrees. Setting up these smart plugs was very easy, taking just several minutes for each unit. Set up one-at-a-time will be your best bet to keep from “getting confused” with only having to enter your WiFi configuration ONE time for all the units made for a quick process. I bought the “Matter compatible” units thinking I would be using my Samsung Phone app – Smart Things – but, the TAPO app is really all you need and IF I had know that the TAPO app works so well, I would have bought the “regular” and LESS EXPENSIVE standard units. The pictures show both my AC data with phone screen shots AND SS from my desktop using the TAPO app within a “BLUESTACKS” emulator program that lets you monitor all the app data on your PC. For BEST Bluestacks performance, you need to enable “VIRTUALIZATION ENABLED” which is for more advanced users that require setting that option within your computers BIOS. In any event, the TAPO app does all that is really needed for you to use these smart plugs to monitor the power used for your equipment. Additionally, within the TAPO app, you CAN export power data in Excel format which will let you preserve the data for more than the THREE MONTH storage capacity of the app. The pictures show the power/cost of each of my three window AC units that are set to a 76 degree temperature setting for all rooms. My electric costs for the HOT month of July in Florida was only $66.67 for ALL THREE AC UNITS â running 24/7. After having used these smart plugs for about a month and an half, I can totally recommend these units as a great way to monitor the power and cost of running your stuff..P.S. There is some possible concern of these smart plugs durability when switching ON/OFF a small AC load. With all of my AC units running 24/7, with the fan on all the time, the switching relay that these units use is switched ON all the time and does not experience the higher switching current that would/may normally be experienced with turning ON a small AC unit from a totally turned OFF state. The relay contacts are always âCLOSEDâ so, there is minimal concern of the relay contacts experiencing the higher current from turning ON an AC that is OFFâ¦. With these LG 6000 BTU units, the typical running current with the compressor running is only 500 to 550 watts, well within the smart switch spec of 15 Amp/1850 Wattsâ¦.

Great for tracking energy usage
I bought these to use as realtime energy consumption monitors, to track how much power my window AC units actually use throughout the season. The app works quite well, and lets me input my actual electricity costs to estimate running costs. I don’t use the actual switching feature of the plugs, but it also seems to work well. They’re very easy to set up – there’s a QR code to scan which automatically connects the plug to Google Home through Matter.
