Excellent cameras with BNC connectors, and reliable connections
I ordered this Loocam Wired Security Camera System to replace a wireless camera system. Yes, I’m done with the cameras losing a signal in the middle of the night. We live in a large property, and having a reliable surveillance system is essential, because we run our business from home. So, we have twelve cameras on surveillance, three sets of four cameras. When the wireless cameras came around I replaced two of the wired systems with wireless cameras. And it has been a wild ride. Definitely, wired cameras are more reliable. There is fact about surveillance cameras that everybody should know, and is that wireless cameras that record 24/7 need a wire electric cord for power. Moreover, the wireless cameras that don’t need the electric cord because they have a battery, or a solar panel, don’t record 24/7, they use a sensor to record only when activity is detected. And this Loocam Wired Security Camera System offers the best from traditional wired technology, and modern tech, including a wide a viewing range, and AI video tracking. The DVR includes a very large capacity hard drive that could store weeks of high definition video recordings.I use a monitor to connect directly to the DVR, however, it is good to know that there is a free app available. In order to use the app the DVR must be connected to a router. The cameras in this surveillance system connect to the DVR with BNC connectors and an electric cord for power, both came wrapped in a single long cable. There is a cable for each camera included.By the way, my oldest surveillance system consists of four BNC connected cameras, and has been working perfectly for about ten years. The reason I chose this set of cameras, is because these are the type of cameras that withstand all type of weather conditions. These Cmeras are sturdy and well-made.Also, in my experience when it comes to surveillance systems, the wires, hard drives and DVRs need replacement before the cameras do. BNC connectors are a reliable connection.

Good system with smart detection, BUT only uses laptop hard drives
Cutting to the chase: I DO NOT RECOMMEND this system unless1) You will be able to live with the relatively small included laptop hard drive,or2) You are okay if you want to upgrade storage by paying more for mechanical laptop hard drives versus using larger capacity and cheaper desktop mechanical hard drives. The TLDR (Too Long Didnât Read) VersionThe relatively small storage drive not withstanding, after a few weeks of use, Iâve been mostly pleased with this systemâs overall performance. The AI-based person and vehicle detection is useful, as I have cameras set up to monitor our gates and sheds, and they only record when vehicles or people are present.Installation was straightforward, and I had it up and running quickly. The image quality is clear enough for my needs, and Iâm not using the mobile apps because the built-in console features already provide me with sufficient control. That said, thereâs one major issue that brought this down from a near-perfect system to a significant letdown for me. The DVR is designed for mechanical laptop hard drives only. Mechanical laptop drives and mechanical desktop hard drives, in addition to different mount sizes, also have different voltage requirements (5V for laptop, BUT 5v as well as 12v both for desktop), and YES I did verify this with the seller when I found normal desktop drives would not work to upgrade the system. This system would have been a 5-Star system for me, but the limiting upgrades to smaller capacity and more expensive laptop drives end up making this a 3-Star experience at best for me.PLEASE NOTE: My reviews reflect my opinion of my customer experience with the product, based on its performance as delivered versus what the productâs description and/or pictures or diagrams may suggest.1 Star: Abysmal customer experience and/or failed to meet significant parts of its description.2 Stars: Poor experience, primarily as described, but second-rate and/or very poor value.3 Stars: Average experience, reasonably meets the expectation promised in its description.4 Stars: Good experience, meets all described expectations, and is a reasonable value for money.5 Stars: Excellent experience! Far outperformed all expectations.

I got a professional to be able to install these cameras, but the end result is really good. Image is very clear, and the quality is outstanding. Worth the price. I will recommend

Amazing performance in a small/light package
First the negative, each camera is connected to the base unit by a very long cable. That is expected on any camera setup which is not wireless but this one also requires the cables to plug into a single power source for all the camera’s. Not a major issue since the cables that require power are the same that go to the base unit but having individual power cables for each would be preferred to spread out the load on your home power. Now all the good, first installation is super simple once you have figured out the location for each camera (4 provided but the base unit will handle 8 cameras), you install the cameras and run the cable from each to the rear of the DR unit. The DVR unit and the camera power is plugged into outlets (need two available for this). You then connect a monitor (optional), the provided mouse and download an app on your phone or tablet. Then you connect the DVR to your network (the network cable provided is quite short but any cat-5 should work) and scan the QR code on the front. The app then configures the cameras and the DVR to work with your home network. Once the installation is finished you open the app on your phone and see the available cameras. The app is pretty self intuitive but definitely read the manual that came with the DVR as it explains hookup and operation. Overall this is a very good unit with minimal installation other than running the long cables to the camera’s final location. This would be a great setup for a small business with drop ceilings where the camera cables are hidden in the ceiling.
