The Champions League table
Tonight’s results
Full time: Paris Saint-Germain 1-2 Bayern Munich
Bayern make a statement of Champions League-winning intent by beating the reigning champions on their own patch. They were sensational in the first half, when Luis Diaz scored twice, but the game changed just before the break when Diaz was sent off for a horrible challenge on Achraf Hakimi. We don’t know for sure but it looked like Hakimi suffered a serious ankle injury.
Joao Neves’s improvised volley gave PSG hope and they pressed incessantly for the last quarter of the game. By hook or by crook, Bayern’s 10 men held on – and their coach Vincent Kompany ran onto the pitch to celebrate with his team at the final whistle. As league-stage wins go, that’s a biggie.
Full time: Atletico Madrid 3-1 Union SG Llorente’s goal was the latest meaningful touch in Madrid.
90 min: Paris Saint-Germain 1-2 Bayern There’s a minimum of five added minutes in Paris.
GOAL! Atletico Madrid 3-1 Union SG (Llorente 90+6) Champions League favourite Marcos Llorente seals victory for Atleti.
89 min: PSG 1-2 Bayern This game is a few minutes behind the others because of the extended delay when Achraf Hakimi was injured and Luis Diaz sent off. PSG are attacking constantly against what is now a Bayern back nine.
Full time: Liverpool 1-0 Real Madrid
Liverpool’s revival continues with another defiant victory under the Anfield lights. Next up: Man City away on Sunday.
Full time: Bodo/Glimt 0-1 Monaco A violent first-half finish from Folarin Balogun gets the job done for Monaco.
87 min: PSG 1-2 Bayern Kvaratskhelia’s speculative shot is held superbly by Neuer – not because of the shot itself so much as Upamecano lunging in front of him.
Full times: Juventus 1-1 Sporting, Olympiacos 1-1 PSV
Full time: Tottenham 4-0 FC Copenhagen
A better night for Spurs, despite the sending-off of Brennan Johnson. Micky van de Ven’s preposterous solo goal will sit alongside Glenn Hoddle v Oxford in Spurs folklore.
GOAL! Olympiacos 1-1 PSV (Pepi 90+3)
A precious injury-time equaliser for PSV! Ricardo Pepi is the scorer.
Missed penalty! Tottenham 4-0 FC Copenhagen
Dane Scarlett is fouled in the area, giving Spurs a penalty. The substitute Richarlison steps forward… and belabours it against the underside of the crossbar!
81 min: PSG 1-2 Bayern Lee’s cross from the right is headed this far wide by Joao Neves, straining every neck muscle to try to guide the ball inside the post. Neuer didn’t move.

78 min: PSG 1-2 Bayern It’s all PSG now. Lee plays a beautiful through pass to Zaire-Emery, who clips a first-time shot on the run that is excellently saved by Neuer.
81 min: Liverpool 1-0 Real Madrid Trent Alexander-Arnold has just come on for Real Madrid. Sounds like he didn’t receive the friendliest welcome, but Scott Murray will have all the details.
83 min: Bodo/Glimt 0-1 Monaco Jostein Maurstad Gundersen has been sent off for the home side.
76 min: PSG 1-2 Bayern A long-range shot from Vitinha is held well to his right by the falling Neuer.
GOAL! Atletico Madrid 2-1 Union SG (Sykes 80) Well, well: a towering header from Ross Sykes, once of Accrington, gives Union SG hope in Madrid.
GOAL! Paris Saint-Germain 1-2 Bayern (Neves 74)
We’re in for some finish in Paris. Joao Neves, a second-half substitute, snaps an excellent volley into the ground and past Manuel Neuer to make it 2-1.
75 min: Atletico Madrid 2-0 Union SG Atletico needed a win tonight after losing two of their first three Champions League games. It’s looking good at the moment.

69 min: Tottenham 4-0 FC Copenhagen That Micky van de Ven goal was a comic-book rampage, one that will be replayed for years. It wasn’t just about speed and power; he swerved away from a group of defenders just past the halfway line and then, when he reached the edge of the area, finished like an old don.

Joao Palhinha, who has only just come on the pitch, makes it 4-0 to 10-man Spurs!
AMAZING GOAL! Tottenham 3-0 FC Copenhagen (Van de Ven 64)
If Micky van de Ven owed the Spurs fans an apology, he’s just delivered it with an amazing goal. He intercepted the ball on the edge of the Spurs area, ran the length of the field and whipped a superb finish into the net. It’s an astonishing goal, but there’s no time to dwell on it because…

Red card! Johnson sent off
57 min: Spurs 2-0 Copenhagen Brennan Johnson gets a straight red card after a VAR review. He lunged in to win the ball, mistimed the challenge and planted his studs into the back of the ankle.
53 min: Spurs 2-0 Copenhagen That was such good play from Kolo Muani, whose block tackle on the keeper sent the ball flying in the air. He did brilliantly to control the dropping ball, then turned to tee up Odobert. But hang on…
GOAL! Spurs 2-0 Copenhagen (Odobert 51)
Wilson Odobert makes it 2-0 after more desperate goalkeeping from Dominik Kotarski. He spent too long and the ball and was robbed by Kolo Muani, who did well to control the dropping ball and tee up Odobert.
They’re back underway in the all the 8pm games except PSG v Bayern, which had around 10 minutes of first-half injury-time.

Half time: Paris Saint-Germain 0-2 Bayern
We don’t know the exact nature of Hakimi’s injury but it looked nasty, ligament damage at best, and he is replaced by Senny Mayulu.
Luis Diaz scores both goals for Bayern, who played magnificently against the European champions, before he was sent off for a scissor tackle on Achraf Hakimi. Could be a lively second half.
Red card! Diaz sent off
45+5 min: Paris Saint-Germain 0-2 Bayern Munich Luis Diaz, who scored both Bayern Munich goals, has been sent off after a VAR review. He was trying to get the ball but both feet were off the ground and he trapped Hakimi’s ankle in a horrible position.
Bayern’s players are furious and think it’s a reaction to the injury rather than the challenge.
45+3 min: Paris Saint-Germain 0-2 Bayern Diaz is booked for a scissor tackle on Hakimi, who is in absolute agony. This looks really bad. He’s in so much pain, with his hand over his face.
Diaz may be sent off for this.
Disallowed goal! Atletico Madrid 1-0 Union SG Antoine Griezmann helps himself to an open goal after Koke’s howitzer is turned onto the post. No he doesn’t; there was a pedantic VAR offside about four hours earlier.
45+1 min: PSG 0-2 Bayern Bayern are rampant in Paris. Pavlovic has a goal disallowed for offside, then Kimmich draws a subtly brilliant save from Chevalier after yet another knife-through-butter move.
Half time: Tottenham 1-0 FC Copenhagen
Brennan Johnson’s first Champions League goal is enough for Spurs to lead against Copenhagen. They should be 2-0 up: Randal Kolo Muani missed a sitter just before the break.
GOAL! Bodo/Glimt 0-1 Monaco (Balogun 43) Folarin Balogun collects a return pass from Akliouche and smashes the ball past the keeper from an absurd angle. And why not?
GOAL! Atletico Madrid 1-0 Union SG (Alvarez 39) Gio Simeone charges into the area and screws the ball across to Julian Alvarez, who flicks the ball up and slams a volley through the legs of the goalkeeper. One-nothing!
37 min: Paris Saint-Germain 0-2 Bayern This would be Bayern’ 16th straight win since the start of the season. And that still isn’t a record.

GOAL! Juventus 1-1 Sporting (Vlahovic 34)
Dusan Vlahovic equalises for Juventus, sliding in at the near post to meet a low pass from Khephren Thuram. A textbook striker’s finish.
GOAL! PSG 0-2 Bayern (Diaz 32)
Two goals for Luis Diaz! Marquinhos farts arounds inexplicably and is robbed by Diaz 25 yards from goal. He zips into the area and finishes emphatically. Bayern are on fire.
31 min: Paris Saint-Germain 0-1 Bayern Serge Gnabry hits both posts with a shot from the edge of the area. Bayern look so dangerous in transition.
