Good when used effectively
Would ideally rate it 4/5, but considering that we have few ‘dependable’ gaming mouse options and Asus has stepped in with a sturdy technical build I’m putting it at 5.Aside from the usual plus points shared with similar mice, few things I’ve noticed:Pros- Perhaps only mouse that I’ve used so far that work almost equally well on hard and cloth pads. It doesn’t drag heavy on soft pads yet still has a sense of ‘stickiness’ for flicks. It also doesn’t slip/scatter your aim on hard pads.- Bit heavy, but its a plus as the movements are smooth and actions feel more .. controlled.- 8khz polling. I turned this on only after a recent pc upgrade. On my earlier (quite old i7) machine the cpu couldn’t handle it and caused fps drops. Have 0 such drops now, make sure to have a newish multicore cpu.- Extremely well build and polished well, no rubber surface that might peel off later.Cons- Everyone talks of it, and Armory Crate is.. famous. From now on I’ll keep it on a backup laptop to customize settings which get saved to the mouse onboard memory anyway.- that teeny joystick by the thumb might be a + for some, I haven’t found ways to apply it effectively. I removed it and had the shielded cap plugged in place. But AC still installs a ‘virtual’ mouse and keyboard on my pc, least one of which is because of the joystick I suspect. These don’t cause any issues as such, but I don’t have a preference for it.- No dpi switch button near mouse wheel, but I remapped the the wheel click for it.Neutral- 32k sensor. Might be useful for multi monitor setups I guess. I tried it for a bit, applying appropriate fractions to mouse sensitivity in Overwatch, but it felt similar to lower dpi and higher sens. Not knocking on this sensor in particular, have seen similar for other high dpi mice too – SteelSeries, Logitech, etc.If it lasts long enough without performance issues, I can see this one as a favorite.

Chakram compared to other similar ROG mice.
The middle mouse is the Gladius III . On the left of it is the ROG Keris Ace 2 and on the right is the ROG Chakram x Orgin.ROG ChakramBy far the heaviest, the Chakram has the most futuristic design of the three. It is larger and built with palm grip users in mind. The analog joystick on the side is a unique inclusion that adds functional variety for specific genres like flight sims or MOBAs. The body is solid and has a premium matte finish. Magnetic buttons and hot-swappable components make it feel modular and advanced. However, the bulk and weight make it less suitable for competitive shooters.ROG Keris Ace 2The Keris Ace 2 is all about simplicity and speed. It uses a magnesium alloy frame that feels INCREDIBLY light yet durable. There are no unnecessary cutouts or fragile textures. The mouse is ideal for claw and fingertip grip users. The buttons use a PBT surface that resists shine over time and the weight distribution is excellent. This mouse feels purpose-built for esports-grade speed and control.ROG Gladius IIIThe Gladius III offers a classic ergonomic shape with a premium construction that appeals to a wide range of gamers. The curvature and contouring make it comfortable for long hours. The switches are hot-swappable and the detachable cable option (for the wired version) adds flexibility. It balances weight, feel, and grip very well. This is a great mix of the first two and can be used for just about anything.ConclusionThe Chakram wins on innovation and functionality. It is my daily driver and one of the most comfortable out there. Its a big boy but if you like bigger mice or have big hands, this is the one Id get.The Keris Ace 2 is the king of lightweight competitive ergonomics. I use this one exclusively for competitive fps gaming. Has up to 8000hz polling rate even in wireless mode which is awesome albeit overkill for most. The Gladius III offers the best traditional comfort for general use. It is a perfect hybrid of the other two. If i could only pick one mouse to use it would be the Gladius III due to its versatility and comfort in any use case. I could use this to play competitive fps gaming or office work and have no issues.

Mouse for productivity and gaming
This mouse is the solution I have been waiting for: one with gaming performance (1,000hz polling and insane 36,000 dpi that’s more than enough for most people), enough buttons to program some macros (besides the right click and scrolls, there are 4 side buttons with a joystick that can have its 4 directions programmed to whatever you need them for, totaling to 8 additional buttons), hot-swap switches (I want to easily change between the ROG microswitches and the Huano White Dot Silents), and all the RGB I could want on a mouse. I especially love the magnetic panels to easily take the top plate and buttons off so swapping the microswitches is so easy. It comes with the carrying case, dongle, USB cable, a set of less clicky switches, and diffuser plate that you can draw on to customize with your own design for the RGB to shine through. I really like the translucent look of the covers so the ROG logo is less bold and hints of the switches can be seen through the buttons. It is a bit on the heavier side but it moves pretty agile. To get the most out of it, you need to use the Armoury Crate program, which most people are not fond of. However, once you set it up the way you like once in there, then you don’t have to deal with it most of the time. You can also customize the RGB through Aura.I just don’t like where the joystick is positioned. It’s too forward to me and I end up canting the mouse so I can use the joystick. If I need to have constant contact with the joystick, then the mouse angle will not be straight. However, in Armoury Crate, you can actually compensate for the angle. I find if I set it by -5 degrees, then I can use the joystick with the mouse canted and not strain my arm.I would definitely recommend this for the person who is looking for a gaming mouse that could double as a productivity mouse. Except for maybe its ergonomic shape, I would even choose this over the MX Master 3S.

Update: The software improved since my original review – see below. Armoury Crate does not delete my profiles now, and I am satisfied with it. The mouse itself is great. I use the thumb joystick in digital mode. This is equivalent to having 4 extra buttons on the mouse. Add the 4 side buttons, and this mouse has 13 configurable buttons, including scroll up and scroll down of the wheel. I prefer this mouse to my old Logitech G502, which is a great mouse.Original Review: The mouse itself is good, but the Armoury Crate software needed to configure the mouse profiles is terrible. It keeps resetting the mouse profiles and losing new profiles I create. It happens when rebooting my PC or when I connect the USB chord to charge it. Essentially, whenever the mouse disconnects. If you just want to use the 6 default profiles, it is very good. Customizing the profiles is not a viable option. This is a very expensive mouse with bad software. I tried to get technical support. I went through all the hoops to get support via chat, and at the end I got a message that the page I had selected was not available. Skip this and get one of the great mice from Razer or Logitech.
