The Relationship Resource Students & Professionals have been Missing
If youâve ever met someone and thought, admiringly and a little enviously, âthat person is so put-together and effortlessly connects with people,â this book is for you. It shares the actual practices, habits, and attitudes of successful entrepreneurs on the various elements of networking including conferences, mentors, first impressions, cold emailing and hosting.I especially enjoyed the chapter on hosting events (Chapter 5) and the way it shared practical tips for every step of the process in order: from several methods for crafting an invite list to the idea of a post-dinner survey to get feedback and recommendations for future guests. This is an eminently practical book; you can read each of the 12 chapters in 5 minutes, and walk away with an actionable insight from each paragraph about how to form connections and increase intentionality that is as applicable in personal settings as professional ones.Martez talks like a friend, rather than an expert, which makes the book easy to read. I laughed out loud at times while reading and reflected seriously at others. Beyond Networking stands out from other books on this topic because of the unique others-centered approach to networking it advocates. I believe Martezâ method has the potential to transform professional relationships and possibly entire industries by building networks that allow all participants to achieve their goals. This would be a great gift for recent graduates (high school or college) and a uniquely practical addition to any class syllabus. It includes a myriad of additional resources for those seeking to dive deeper in this topic but this is the book to start with: an easy read that teaches not just how to be successful, but how to successfully invest in the things that give life meaning: relationships.

What Youâre In For
I got Beyond Networking partly because I wanted to hone my interpersonal skills with friends, mentors, and even strangers that I meet at events (and partly because it was recommended by a friend, Mateo). How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie was very helpful, but I needed something more actionable and more relevant to modern day social structures. After finishing this book, I couldnât be more grateful for having read it – it was brief, right to the point, directly actionable, and gave me so many insights that are going to change the whole game for me! From the fundamentals of everyday introductions to connecting with celebrities! From conferences to dinners (of various sizes). And even the basics of building strong lasting mentor-mentee relationships. This is not a book on philosophies. Itâs a book on how-tos – how to build, nurture, and expand great relationships – and I couldnât have been happier reading anything else. I encourage you to pick it up, and I hope you like it as much as I do 🙂

Packed with Wisdom
Mateo has a rare ability to present a very complex thing (human relationships) very clearly. There are scores of books on the matter that are dry or downright useless. Beyond Networking, however, stands out as a value packed gem.The writing style is clear, to the point, and incredibly persuasive. I walked away from the book with a revitalized interest in people. That the book is able to not only give such positive energy and motivation, but also provides very actionable strategies to act on the energy, is a true gift. One great insight I loved (grab a copy for the rest of them): donât send a follow up email if you wouldnât call somebody to tell them what you plan on putting in the email.Already, Iâm thinking of ways I can take Mateoâs wisdom and use it to enrich my own network.A million kudos to Mateo.

The Navalmanac of Networking
Easy to Read, Informative, and PRACTICAl: I didn’t know what to expect with this book after a friend recommended it. I have a small business and am always looking for improve my networking skills. This book was just what I’ve been looking for…easy to read, informative, and chalked full of practical takeaways. It reminded me of one of my favorite books, The Almanac of Naval Ravikant. Overall, if you’re interested in building long-lasting, strong, and relevant relationships, this book is very worth the time.

An Essential Guide to Networking
This book is for every student or professional asking, âHow do I network?â âAnd more importantly: how do I network effectively?â Networking can feel daunting, but with helpful tips and advice, Martezâs short but comprehensive guide will teach you how to thrive as a networker. One of my favorite takeaways from the book was this quote: âThe world isnât about who you know but also who knows you.â Itâs not just about knowing a bunch of people but increasing your visibility and sharing about the work you do. In a world where networking can feel very âtransactional,â Martez offers another perspective. Itâs more than just making connections. Itâs about building a lasting community with people who care and support you through all of lifeâs challenges.Ready to take your networking to a new level? Look no further than Beyond Networking by Mateo Martez!

Exceptionally Valuable and Concise
This book is quite simply life-changing. Whether you are cultivating current friendships, finding and learning from mentors, or expanding your professional network, Beyond Networking is full of actionable insight and is written in a uniquely concise style and format that keeps you reading and is easily accessible for future reference. This book is a must-read before attending any professional conference (no matter how connected you are), and highly recommended if you are hungry to grow and need direction in starting relationships to get you where you want to go. As a college student engaging professionally with my career field and also developing myself as an individual, I have found this book incredibly helpful, and I am recommending it to all my friends.

This is an excellent book on networking that is packed full of practical techniques and tips. The content has been distilled from multiple networking experts so itâs stuff that works. One simple example that resonated for me was the point that the most important part of networking isnât the event itself but the work you put in before it and after it. Very true. And there are loads more learning points like that. Best of luck networking!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and found it very valuable. It is really well written, easy to digest and is full of links to further resources if you want to delve deeper on a particular topic. I particularly valued the advice on making introductions, finding a mentor and on how to get the most out of events. I have never got on well with traditional networking but the approaches in this book feel much more authentic and based on building real relationships.
