Great book
Bought this form my husband. He is taking a class on LAN/WAN technologies. The book itself is great with a lot of activities at the end of each chapter. The professor though barely uses it because he feels it has too many topics not covered by him. It remains a great book for anyone who would like to get involved with the activities after each chapter.

Needs an audio book.
I fall asleep reading this every time. I had to read Mike Meyers’ CompTIA Networking+ book for another class and that was much better. This book is admittedly more in-depth than the Meyers book but it could be presented in a way that doesn’t make me dread having to read it.It also takes some really weird turns occasionally. For example, when talking about firewalls it reads “An inside host typically trusts other inside hosts precisely because they are not outsiders: outside is uncontrolled and fraught with harmful creatures.”I am not knocking the creativity of adding a little silliness to a dry subject – it’s just that it is completely out of the blue in the middle of a very straightforward textbook.I need an audio version to listen to and I think others would also appreciate. Why aren’t there audio versions of textbooks? I’m guessing because they already make enough money from the print versions and don’t need to spend the money making the audio…

This format is not device friendly
Purchased this text book on Kindle so it would be in my library but the format is the worst. They called it Text Book like or something. Well it should have said pictures. Does not fit on phone at all have to have it really small or keep sliding it around like a zoomed in picture. Might have been ok if there was an audio version too but there is not. If you are only using on a computer then it’s ok but not for small er devices.

Replacement can be sent
The books pages in the middle of the textbook are completely out of the textbook. Idk if I can be sent a replacement having bought this book and Iâll send this one back. I need this textbook for my studies for the last two years.

Written for professors, not students
Overly complicated and bounces around. It spends paragraphs on obsolete standards. I am using this book for my telecommunications class and often go to YouTube or Kahn Academy for simpler/better/more straight forward explanations. I really hate having to read this book.
