Exactly what it says it is…
Superb, easy to follow instructions for hand dying/painting. This book is basically fabric dying for idiots ( ike me). A concise instruction manual that not only tells you what to do but also an easy to swallow reason for why you are doing it. Really a great reference book if you want to try drying your own fabrics but don’t care to get what amounts to a college degree in chemistry to make it happen. GREAT directions, full of pics, easy to understand. A valuable book to have in your reference library, really.

Taking this class in Sisters, OR in July
I was required to purchase this book so I can take the author’s class at the Sisters, OR Quilt Festival in July, 2014. I’m really excited about the technique, because it looks easy and doesn’t involve a lot of steps to get hand-dyed fabrics. I want to incorporate hand dyed fabrics into my quilts and after the class I will have 4-6 yards of fabric to play with!

Info is great, print quality is poor
The quality of information in the book is great, but the print quality of the book is horrible. It looks like it was printed on a cheap home printer. The photographs are very difficult to see. For a book about dying, the photos are pretty important. Even the text is not great. Book feels like a knock off of the original.

Easy to follow, well written book
This book is really an easy read and encourages you to begin dying fabric without a lot of fuss. For a beginner it is great! I have not finished reading the book yet, however it has put me at ease about the business of how to dye fabric in small or large quantities. The pictures and printing is wonderful.Her writing is uncluttered and instructions are easy to follow. I highly recommend this book.

I am SOOOO happy I was able to find and purchase this book! Lynn Koolish is a wonderful teacher – so knowledgeable about so many different aspects of dyeing cloth! I will be having lots of fun with this book!

If you never dyed fabric before, which I hadn’t, this book is so well organized and illustrated you will have fun. The information is so well organized and detailed you will never be confused or left up in the air. I think this is one of the best books out there explaining fabric dyeing! Yes, buy the book.
