It works but it is not what I was expecting.
The reviews were raving about this but I did notice one picture a reviewer left is of an entirely different product (it’s a white projector with a textured design while the listing is for this other gray design and is of a different shape and everything). I did not pay full price for this but was excited to try a projector that seemed so nice and high quality. While it did work….I primarily got it for outside and even sitting right next to the unit I had trouble hearing my movie. You can hear the top volume sitting directly next to the unit in the attached video.I eventually had to hook up my daughter’s Bluetooth speaker just to hear the volume at a reasonable level. This should not be a problem. The unit is large enough that there is plenty of space for good speakers. It is not “Tiny” as other reviews have commented it “fits in my hand.” It does not fit in my hand and is almost the size of a small shoe box. Another reason I’m just not certain the reviews are all for the same projector as this is definitely not palm sized.I’m not sure if this is conglomeration of reviews for various projectors or what is going on but I’m somewhat disappointed. The picture was nice once it got dark out but I could not get the auto focus and adjust to work. It kept saying it couldn’t “correct” the image and to move it or clear blockages. I did not have this problem inside but I was also projecting much closer to the wall inside. Considering that I had this placed directly in front of the screen I was projecting to and not off to the side (like it advertises it can do) I find it annoying. It’s directly in front of the screen. There is no reason it should be so finicky. I had to manually adjust everything and did not find it convenient.The size of the projected image was not as large as I’d expected. To get a larger size I would need to set the unit even further back and I do not have enough room on my patio to do this. The image size was still significantly large enough for my purposes. The sound quality was great inside but not impressive outside. Don’t expect more than a few people sitting directly near the projector to be able to hear this outside without pairing it with an external speaker. Considering that most people buy these to watch with multiple people that may be a deal breaker for some. But it was also easily corrected by pairing with a speaker. I simply did not expect to have to use a speaker. I wanted an all in one type of product.I may actually return this item as it’s just not the quality I was expecting. The image was clear but again, it was finicky and I had to adjust it myself outdoors. When I tried it indoors it seemed to work better. I got this specifically for outdoor use. Even discounted it is still a significant amount of money to invest and I’d like it to do what it says it does and auto size and correct. I also don’t give products good ratings just because I’ve received a discount. I would be even more disappointed had I paid the full price.Pros: Clear picture with good color quality that is comparable to a screen once it is dark outside (or you turn off the lights inside). While it is quite bulky it is still something that is portable. The pre-installed apps were convenient and easy to login and use. Paired well with my daughter’s speaker. Once it was set up and running I had zero problems. It did not over heat and was cool enough to put directly back in the box after an almost 2 hour movie.Cons: The auto correction does not work most of the time for me. I must manually adjust the image which I was not expecting at this price point. I can understand if a little bit of tweaking needs done but I found the device was not auto correcting as expected at all. The speaker is just not powerful enough and for the size (and price) of the unit I see no reason why there should be a need to use a different speaker….but I did have to use a different speaker about halfway through just to make the experience more pleasant. I’ve now ordered a speaker specifically for this and I’m wondering if I should be investing more in this at all…..at this point I’ve spent a lot of money on the unit and am now spending more to get a speaker to use when I see no reason I should have to purchase this separately. If I were using this for kids I would especially need a speaker as even sitting right next to the unit I had a hard time hearing. I’d expect a device at this price point to come with its own carrying case to protect it. It is bulky and I have to use the box to store it which I think I should not have to do. A protective case should be included and I actually expected one be included but there is only the cardboard box. I got a discount on this item but still expected quality because I still invested significant money. It could have been much better but it also could have been much worse.Overall I’m not as impressed with the item as I expected. I was very excited about getting this and even planned a movie night and I will use it for that but if it doesn’t begin to auto correct or otherwise show me it’s worth the money I invested….then I’m going to return it and purchase a different brand. I’m a bit skeptical of the reviews and believe they are not all for the same projector. The size is not impressive. It is large especially with the stand attached. It is awkward to store and the cap for the lens keeps falling off. The cord to the device is definitely waaaay too short. Maybe 3ft long. The device needs distance and I had to use an extension cord even though I have an outlet less than 10ft from the area I needed to set the projector. I found it did need to be directly in front of the “screen” and I also could not project from the ground very well so ended up having to put a table in front and put it on that.It works and the setup was easy even for a non-tech savvy person. Adjusting the image was the hardest part. I was just expecting a more seamless experience in terms of not having to manually adjust it, being able to hear it outdoors and not needing to place it directly squarely in front of the screen and also elevated on a table. I felt sort of ridiculous amping everyone up for this nice projector I got and then the item had so many problems. I will give the item another try and if it continues to have annoying problems I’m going to return it. I only hesitate because it did work well once set up….and I don’t have much experience with projectors so I do not know if it is common they have these drawbacks especially for outdoor use. My review is mixed, I like it but see a lot of room for improvement.
