My thermostat is upstairs and we spend most of the time downstairs. Zoning the HVAC is very expensive. This sensor lets me control the temperature of the room we are in. Great addition to Google Nest thermostat.

I’ve had the Google Nest Temperature Sensor integrated into my smart home for a few months now, and itâs proven to be a useful tool for managing indoor comfort. They were all easy to install, and make connect to the google app, so far a long battery life. just make sure you test the spot you want to install to to make sure it can reach your main Thermostat via Bluetooth (average a straight 20 feet depending on how much stuff of walls are in the way)

I purchased this item and failed to install it because I needed a more recent version of the Nest thermostat, despite the fact that my thermostat was telling me I had the most up-to-date version.After some research I discovered that there are 2 versions of the software: 1 for the United States, Canada, Mexico, and some other countries, where this sensor is available, and 1 for Europe, which is not compatible with is sensor. This sensor shouldn’t be sold in the UK as is cannot be used in with a UK-sold Nest thermostat. Frankly it should be put in the product description.

Il sensore di temperatura Nest non funziona in Italia, di questa informazione non câè traccia nella scheda tecnica del prodotto scritta dal venditore (Americano). Dopo aver tentato lâabbinamento ad un termostato Nest âLearning Terza Generazioneâ, il termostato riporta un messaggio relativo alla necessità di aggiornamento del software, ma non è possibile fare nessun aggiornamento perché il software italiano non prevede lâassociazione del sensore. Ho contatto lâhelp desk Google Nest, il cui operatore mi ha confermato che questo prodotto non è distribuito direttamente in Italia da Google proprio perché non è compatibile con il software italiano. Il venditore ha perso una buona occasione per dimostrare la sua onestà !

Got one of this sensor to work with the Nest Learning Thermostat a year ago. The thermostat was installed in the living room but since our living room faces east and the family room faces west, the set temperature for the living room was not always right for the family room even though I tried to compensate by adjusting the schedule.The additional sensor made a huge difference in convenience. They are well built. Set up was super easy with the Google Home app. I was then able to program the thermostat to use the built in sensor in the morning, and this stand alone sensor in the afternoon to get the house temperature just right. Note that unlike other thermostats with extra sensor, the Nest thermostat does not use average temperatures from all sensors to run the HVAC system. It uses the selected sensor as programmed exclusively which is what I want.And then just a month ago, our central air conditioner called it quit after 17 years of use. We decided to upgrade the entire HVAC system to a 2 stage furnace and air conditioner. But alas, although the Nest learning thermostat is compatible with the new system, the original cable from the furnace to the thermostat has only 4 wires and the new system requires 7 (including the C-wire)! Replacing the cable will cost us an extra $1000+. Fortunately, since our basement home theatre is right next to the furnace room, I opted to relocate the thermostat to the home theatre where wiring to the furnace was straight forward. I bought an extra temperature sensor to put in the living room, and then programmed the thermostat to use the two external sensors to run the HVAC. And since the thermostat is already integrated to Google Home, I can set the house temperature however I want to via the Nest home app or by voice through Home Assistant anywhere.Can’t be more happy with the versatility of these little sensors!By the way, the white little temperature sensor is unobtrusive and can be hanged anywhere to blend in the room’s decor. I also found a small round indoor thermometer and hygrometer on Amazon that is the same size and looked almost like the Nest thermostat to put in the original mounting plate in the living room. I left the wire in place in case I need to sell the house and the new owner does not like my setup.
