Still a great buy
I’ve owned this refub T480 for 2 years now, and used it in less than ideal conditions (many months on a sailboat and touring on a motorcycle). Like all the Lenovos I’ve owned, it has stood up to the abuse, which is why I go back to Lenovos when I need a new laptop. My configuration was Intel Core i5-8350U, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD and it was priced at two Benjamins. It’s been a great computer. The processor was much faster than anything else in its class, and still stands up to most offerings today. I’ve notice in recent reviews of laptops in this price range the i5-1xxgx class of processors is running up to ~50% faster than the 8350u, but at the cost of twice the power usage and corresponding lower useful battery life. It’s not worth it to me, as I am usually running on battery. I recently replaced the secondary (larger) batter for $27, and battery life is back up to 8+ hours of normal use. I also had a problem with the keyboard after about 18 months, and replaced it with a new backlit keyboard for about $35. The keypad is wearing, but still functions fine. But other than those normal wear and tear items (especially as I use it) the laptop is great. Fast boot up if its not uploading Windows updates. Wonderful keyboard. Screen is great. Plenty of memory to run a score of windows open at the same time and then some. I added a 256gig chip in the SSD chip socket to share the storage duties. I put my regular data backup on the on board SSD storage (as well as periodic back ups to an off board SSD drive). Wireless internet is fine. Runs all my older games without a problem, like any inexpensive laptop, you’re probably going to run into problems if you try to run graphic intensive games on it. I don’t use the touchscreen much but it’s nice to have once in a while. Great battery life. A winner all around. If I had to replace it today, after reviewing the current (July 2025) competitive offerings, I would still buy another one of these laptops today.

College ready
I love this laptop. For 200 this is a steal, I really didn’t even know it was touch screen until a month later and it made me love it even more. The touch screen only uses your actual fingers and not a digital pen, this is not a tablet. I use it as an additional laptop to my main one. Basically, I use this laptop for school going from class to class because A) its light, B) If it gets stolen it was only 200 c) The specs are good for its price. I am a junior physics major who uses it for coding, school work, and circuitry. The only downside is that you would need to change the battery(Dont have to change it at first, still works with what was given but you would get more life if changed). But really compared to the other options this I found was the best after weeks of research for a cheap laptop. The battery can last up to around 2 hrs 20 min Id say if put on lowest performance. It works fine if you have it connected to its charger(Usb C), which most classes have. Good space if you only use it for school work, Have not tried gaming on it other than chess.com mainly because I have a better pc for that. Would highly recommend it if you are on a budget. Runs windows also.

Worked for a couple of months, and then touchpad started going crazy.
I needed a computer only for zoom meetings, one day a week. This seemed like a great choice, but I didn’t use it much when I received it. I checked it to make sure it was turned on, and it seemed good. Ive recently tried to use it, and multiple windows open. I can’t prevent this from happening, and my guess is something is wrong with touch-pad. I also discovered the one of the USB ports doesn’t work properly, the port is extremely loose and whatever peripheral is plugged in doesn’t function properly. I should have checked this out more carefully when I received it. I would have returned it. The refurbishment of this notebook is of poor quality. If the touch pad didn’t malfunction, and the USB port worked properly, I would be 100% happy instead I feel dumb for wasting money on this computer.

Good value, verry clean.
Gave this 4 stars due mainly to the description on Amazon NOT LISTING it as 480 S! the S model does NOT have a removable Battery and one of the RAM is soldered in, limiting the option for upgrades. Having said that, it is exceptionally clean, having an almost new appearance and was immediately upgraded to WIN 11 with no issues. Would recommend to friends.

More bang for your buck! Refurbished.
I “ride my laptops” ’til they drop – keys fallin’ off, not enough RAM for today’s software etcetera so it was time to find another workhorse. I asked AI to find me a laptop under $300 that could run a number of cloud applications like Adobe Creative Cloud smoothly and it recommended a few closer to $200, all refurbished. I jumped on the Thinkpad and so far I’m happy as can be with its performance. Especially compared to my tired HP although the HP served me well for around 10 years, it was time to move on. In fact my last 3 laptops have been HPs and 1 Mac as a tester. Bottom line, I recommend more bang for the buck, (refurbished & cheap), as long as it has the RAM and clock speeds to run whatever you’re running. I love this Thinkpad! So far so good!

I purchased t480 renewed laptop from “Computer Deal USA”This laptop arrived fast. It included branded adapter and external second battery. To my pleasant surprise, the laptop I received is a touch screen one. The laptop looked very clean and with very little usage as it appeared to be. Very well cleaned before sending it to me. The windows 10 pro setup was very clean and laptop is very fast and touch screen is perfect and very responsive. This laptop had dual battery and one battery was showing 93% health and one showed only 45% health. I contacted the customer service about this. Adam in their technology department responded swiftly and sent me a brand new third party made external battery. Everything is perfect. I am very happy with the purchase I made, I recommend this seller highly. They are very professional and they acted fast.Be sure to install lenovo vantage and update all drivers and bios for smooth usage. Also don’t forget to update windows 10 after you connect to internet.

Después de ver varias opciones de equipos reacondicionados en Amazon esta computadora fue la que más me convenció. Tardó en llegar 1 semana exactamente a mi casa en la ciudad de México.El equipo parece completamente nuevo de fábrica y viene con su cargador originalEn mi caso el teclado no es retroiluminado y no tiene à pero la pantalla Sà es touch, por lo que estoy muy contento. Ya investigué y el teclado se puede cambiar por uno retroiluminado y con à que venden aquà mismo en Amazon, por lo que más adelante tal vez lo cambiaré. La à sà se puede utilizar si pones el idioma del equipo y la distribución del teclado en español, por lo que realmente no he tenido problema alguno la verdad.El trackpad por otro lado se ve y siente completamente nuevo.La cámara tiene una biñeta para cerrarla en caso de que no la estés utilizando o no quieres que te vean.El equipo detecta una baterÃa, pero es grande y la carga soporta 8 horas o más si no le exiges mucho poder de procesamiento con algún programa pesado o juego. Yo trabajo programando y haciendo campañas de Facebook y Google Ads y ayer no tuve que ponerla a cargar en todo el dÃa de trabajo.Mi equipo vino con windows 10 pro NT, pero windows update me permitió pasar a windows 11 pro completamente gratis.En gaming solamente he probado Minecraft windows edition y sà lo corre bastante bien.Sinceramente esta computadora me gustó mucho más que otra laptop completamente nueva que compré el año pasado en el hot sale por la que pagué 3 veces más.

Great Laptop! Been using this nearly on a daily basis for 6 months and has held up nicely! The extra large battery gives it a long life but does get bulky/heavy… Cosmetically very clean and fulfills all my use cases (general web browsing, youtube, light gaming, MS Excel, MS word)

Bad quality, I am trying to return it but Amazon closed the window of return. After one month of use, the laptop battery is totally dead. I have to connect with power all the time to use the laptop. Also I have noticed this weekend that the camera also not working.
