Offers more control than other headphones
In terms of overall sound quality, these headphones perform well. I like having physical controls, so they’re easy to use for someone like me who struggles to remember the finger tap motions that other headsets often require. The downloadable app adds a new layer of functionality, giving me the ability to adjust the listening experience—whether by increasing or decreasing the bass and treble, or fine-tuning the Active Noise Control (ANC).Transparency mode is unique in that I can still enjoy my music while also hearing exterior sounds clearly enough if someone needs my attention. There’s a built-in microphone, so phone calls can be made, and the long battery life is especially helpful on travel days.As for the fit, the ear pads are about as comfortable as my other pair. The one area where I feel improvements could be made is in regard to weight, which is approximately 11.5 ounces. For reference, my other headphones weigh only 8 ounces, so while a 3-ounce difference may not seem like much, I do notice the added weight after wearing them for extended periods—especially while sitting upright. That’s the main reason I’m removing one star. Even my spouse said they felt heavy, so there’s a consensus on that point. If these were lighter, I wouldn’t hesitate to give them five stars, because the sound quality and noise cancelling are exceptional.

Pro’s and Con’s and Gaming Experience: Phenomenal Sound and Premium Feel with only a Few Rough Edges
The Nothing Headphones are an absolute sensory experience; stylish, incredibly comfortable (for the right head size), and surprisingly powerful when it comes to audio performance. I’ve used headphones from both Bose for many years and Nothing a year or two, and I’m starting to lean toward Nothing as my preferred brand.Positives:+ Fit & Comfort (for larger heads):These are big headphones. I mean genuinely oversized which for me, with an enormous head, is a godsend. The band extends further than any other headset I’ve tried and offers a secure but gentle fit. I wore these for 8 hours straight with zero pressure points or fatigue.+ Sound Quality:Flat out incredible. The default tuning is already impressive, but once you open the app and start adjusting the EQ, you can dial in everything from deep cinematic bass to razor-sharp mids and highs. I boosted the low end a bit for my use, and it never got muddy, just richer and more immersive.+ Noise Cancellation:The ANC is very effective. While it doesn’t quite match the elite tier like Sony XM5s or AirPods Max, it’s close enough that I never felt like I was missing out. With adjustable levels in the app, you can tweak it based on your environment. It blocks out most distractions easily.+ Dual Bluetooth & App Experience:The app is non-negotiable: you need it. This is where the magic happens. You get access to firmware updates, multipoint Bluetooth pairing (works flawlessly), customizable controls, and EQ settings. Setup was easy, and the app has been stable so far.+ Gaming Performance (COD tested):I dropped into a game of Call of Duty to test sound staging and directional audio. Honestly, I wasn’t ready. The sound hit so hard and was so precise and immediately had sniper rounds buzzing past my head that literally made me flinch. Once I settled in, the headset delivered stunning positional audio. Hit markers snapped with force, and footsteps were not only louder but clearer in terms of direction. These aren’t “gaming” headphones, but the immersion was outstanding. Latency on Bluetooth is fine for casual gaming, but you must go into the app and turn on the gaming function for latency. I’m not sure what happens if you just leave this function on?+ Battery Life:It seems endless.+ Build & Aesthetics:Nothing nailed the look and feel here. The industrial transparency design is instantly recognizable, and the build quality feels premium throughout. Buttons are tactile, responsive, and thankfully not replaced with clumsy touch controls. The controls are also wonderfully unique, almost a nod to the styling uniqueness of the Nothing brand.Negatives:– Fit for Smaller Heads:On the smallest setting, the headset is still too loose for my wife’s head. It doesn’t clamp tightly enough to stay secure. If you have a small or narrow head, this may be a deal-breaker. It will not work for a child.– Carry Case Issues:The included case looks sleek but isn’t the most practical. The inner pocket is oversized and doesn’t secure the included USB-C or 3.5mm cables well. The zipper is tiny and stiff, making opening and closing a chore. For a travel case, it’s oddly frustrating.– Mic Limitations (for gamers):This headset isn’t designed with gaming voice chat in mind. The mic quality seems decent, but there’s no clear mute/unmute control (or at least not one that’s obvious). I had to disable it at the system level on my PC. If you’re planning to use these as your daily gaming headset, be aware that mic convenience and control are lacking and I found nothing in the instruction manual or app to assist.Final Thoughts:If you’re an audio lover with a larger head and an eye for bold design, Nothing Headphones 1 will blow you away. The sound is rich, immersive, and tunable to your preferences. For music, travel, and even casual gaming, they’re easily one of the best values in the sub-$300 range. That said, if you have a smaller head or need a mic with gaming-level flexibility, you’ll want to weigh that before buying.Highly recommended for audiophiles and style-conscious users with a few quirks to be aware of.

Beware of Bass distorsion at high volume
Bass distorsion at high volume due to improper seal. When the seal is adjusted the issue goes away but then whenever the seal breaks it starts again. I am so disappointed.

These deserve a spot in premium headphone comparisons
Price when reviewed: $299 (full disclosure: mine was a free review unit)Sound: 4.5/5ANC: 4.5/5Ambient Mode/Passthrough: 3/5Fit & Comfort: 3/5Build: 4/5Controls & Features: 5/5Accessories: 4/5Overall Grade Compared with Other Similar Headphones: AQuick Summary: The Nothing Headphone (1) definitely came through with a premium listening experience that outperformed what I’d expected for the company’s first foray into ANC over-ears. Sound quality is rich and detailed with a slightly dark tuning that some may notice out of the box. But the app-based EQ offers plenty of flexibility to tailor it (I found that the treble enhanced EQ preset was perfect for me). Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is excellent, closely rivaling AirPods Max and outperforming Bose QC45, though still just behind Sony’s top-tier XM6.Controls are inventive but intuitive—possibly my favorite feature on these. Build quality feels solid, and while the included accessories and case are above par IMO, comfort is the one drawback. The ear pads trap noticeable heat, making long sessions uncomfortable for me. Ambient/passthrough mode is above average.Despite a couple of minor gripes, the Nothing Headphone (1) is an easy recommendation from me, and I think it’s fair to include these in comparisons to the AirPods Max, Sony XM6, and other top-tier headphones.

    Great for Work & Play
I use these for Zoom meetings and gaming, and they excel at both. The noise-canceling mic cuts out keyboard clicks, and the comfortable fit lets me wear them all day. The Bluetooth pairing is quick, and the audio balance is perfect—not too bass-heavy. My only wish? A hard carrying case for travel. This model just meets my wishes. It comes with a carrying case. An amazing all-rounder!

    Best Wireless Headset I’ve Owned
I’ve tried multiple headsets, like Beats, Sony, for this price, this one stands out. The wireless connection is rock-solid with no dropouts, and the 40mm drivers deliver deep, punchy bass. The mic is super convenient, and my friends say I sound crystal clear. The battery lasts forever—I only charge it twice a week! If you’re on the fence, just get it.

This is a headphone with many very well implemented features. The Nothing Headphone 1 is pretty comfortable, has terrific build quality and a very nice and distinctive design, although this is a matter of personal preference.Sound quality is better and more balanced than the AIrPods Max I’ve had for a few years now and with double the battery life. It also sounds better, IMO, than the new Sony WH-1000XM6 which costs significantly more. And if you want to taylor the sound to your preference, the EQ provided is one of the best I’ve seen in any headphone, providing 2 kinds of adjustments, one that is very straightforward and similar to what you find in other headphones, and another for people who want to explore much finer and precise EQ adjustments.ANC isn’t at the level of the AirPods Max or the Sonys, but it does the job quite well. Call quality is very good since I’ve had no complaints from people at the other end of several calls I’ve had, and you also get an option to map one of the buttons and have the possibility to mute the mic during a call. Transparency mode is quite good and though it isn’t on the AirPods level, it does get pretty close. The travel case is fairly small and pretty sturdy which is a plus since these headphones do not fold when you put them in the case.In all all, I think that for 299€ you’ll be hard pressed to find such a good ANC headphone that does so many things right.
