I have a bunch of reolink camera’s already but this one was perfect for our backyard. It auto tracks very nicely and is so easy to view. No monthly or hidden fees is the nicest thing about Reolink!!!

Firmware horror… Optimized “connection failed”
4 stars if you’re a tech person and know your way around github and a CLI3 stars if you just want this to work and TURN OFF auto updates0 stars if you aren’t tech savyPowering this on with just the power adapter will give you a loud “Welcome to ReoLink” message loop telling you in multiple languages to proceed with using an app to get connected and there is no turning it off until you do the initial setup. I found this out through the repeated failed to connect attempts trying to connect to this camera through the phone app and NVR. Do yourself a favor and set this up through ethernet first and fill in your network/WiFi info afterwards.This camera worked seamlessly, until I updated the firmware manually for some of the new functions and bug fixes. The latest firmware contains “network optimizations” which caused failed connections intermittently and would have to keep trying to connecting after a few minutes. This did not work for me when I want to see the playback from an earlier movement notification right away. I had no issues accessing the camera before updating it and from my experience with the PoE version the latest firmware was causing issues.ReoLink DOES NOT list the previous firmware versions on their download page. There is an unofficial github repo, AT0myks/reolink-fw-archive, that has a python script to download all firmware for all models from Reolink’s S3 and CDN’s. I then pulled the camera off and wired it to my network and used the desktop ReoLink application to upload the older working firmware.The version that semi/pseudo bricked the camera:v3.0.0.2769_23100901 (latest version as of typing)Version I downgraded to:v3.0.0.1514_22111401It may be possible to use v3.0.0.1817_23022701 going by the notes from the repo files, as that is the latest version without the network optimizations. Then again I don’t feel like bricking and unbricking these TrackMix camera’s and hopefully given enough time ReoLink will fixes these issues, but I’m not banking on it.

Great camera
Great for my use case. The motion tracking works well when tracking things that always come from the same direction, otherwise it doesn’t work so well since the camera always returns to its previous position or its set home position so may not capture/track movement coming in outside of that position.

Torturous voice to set up, will not scan QR code to set up!
The torture of the extremely loud voice coming through CONSTANTLY and in different languages as I was trying to do the set up was one thing. Then the fact that the camera would NOT scan the QR code in the app during setup process is what motivated me to place the camera back into its box and promptly start the return process. Junk.
