Locked and completely un-unlockable.
I bought an “unlocked” phone. It came with printed directions telling me that it will indicate it is locked to Verizon, but not to worry, as soon as all the updates were done, I could insert my sim and the phone would work. Since the phone came completely wiped back to the factory release date, I had to individually and incrementally install all 32 updates. At 10 minutes per update, that is 320 minutes. It took an entire afternoon/evening plus the next morning. Normal factory resets do not remove all the security updates and OS updates, so that should have been my first clue. After all that work, the phone still said it was locked to Verizon. I spent an entire day on the phone with both T-Mobile and Verizon tech support, driving 2 cities over to go to the Verizon and T-mobile “corporate” stores. No help. Technically the phone is unlocked, it is clean, it is not stolen or lost, it is supported by T-Mobile, but no one could figure out how to convince the phone it was indeed unlocked. We did 3 additional factory resets, we tried 1 SIM and 2 eSIMS. T-mobile tried to remotely install an E-sim. The manager at corporate verizon said something is wrong with the phone that is not reparable. He told me if I was a verizon customer, they would have exchanged it for free. T-Mobile also looked at it in person and were just as mystified. However, they accepted it as a trade-in, even though it was locked. So I ended up trading it in to T-Mobile and getting a new phone. I recommend to anyone buying a used phone to insist on seeing a photo of the screen showing the “unlocked” status and not just take the sellers word for it.

Solid phone, great battery
This is the fourth Samsung android phone I have purchased through the Amazon guarantee program. All phones have performed flawlessly. And they were about one fourth the price of new units. The first two I bought MANY years ago were the S7’s. They lasted forever and fit our needs. The newer S23’s certainly have more bells and whistles but also seem robust. ( We have had them about 8 months)

Great phone, exactly what I was looking for and works fine as a refurbished phone This is the first phone that has worked since buying and returning the last two refurbished over one month. Tip: if you buy a refurbished phone make sure it’s from Amazon Refurbished. There’s other suppliers who don’t test their phones adequately before shipping.
