I’m a light traveler and don’t really like taking a full carry on or checking a bag
I purchased this rolling backpack to replace my daughter’s high school backpack that I was currently using for travel. Her backpack was getting a bit old and didn’t quite fit everything that I needed for a five day stay in another city. I’m a light traveler and don’t really like taking a full carry on or checking a bag, so I thought this was a good option. I was a little skeptical about this rolling backpack actually fitting under the seat of the plane in front of me but I purchased it anyway and thought I’d give it a try. Let me tell you this rolling backpack is amazing. I arrived at the airport early and picked up my favorite Starbuck’s beverage and sat down on those horribly uncomfortable seats at the terminal. I was doing a little light reading before boarding the plane so I put the backpack in front of me and comfortably propped my legs up on it. I took it on the plane as a backpack and I did have to turn it sideways to get it under the seat, but it did fit and that will depend on the airline and where you are sitting. As I got off the plane I undid the flap for the wheels and tucked the handles under the flap to hold them in place. The handle is the perfect height for me at 5’8″, I didn’t have to bend to hold onto the handle. It worked beautifully while traveling through the airport and getting onto the lightrail train. The wheels glide smooth on the concrete and carpet and seem to be very sturdy. The amount of pockets made it easy to stash various items in different locations. It has a nice mesh pocket on the side that I used to put my sunglass case for easy access. The pocket on the inside is large and fit my small laptop computer, iPad and a large eye shadow case. Unfortunately, as you will see from the photo of the back, someone had stuck gum under the seat in front of me and it stuck to one of the backpack handles. Nothing a little ice and elbow grease won’t fix. All in all, this backpack saved my shoulder from added weight while traveling and I didn’t feel like I had to stuff my items while traveling.

Perfect bag for carry-on plane travel.
Love it. Bought for a specific purpose. I’m an airline pilot and fly every week; some short trips, some long. This is a great overnight bag and can fit a change of clothes, bathroom items, computer, etc. For longer trips, it stacks perfectly on top of my 22″ carry on! The wheels actually help it stay in place. I disagree with a couple other complaints: Having the iPad/computer pouch in the front alows for easy access when you just move the zippers out of the way a bit. I don’t undo the zippers fully unless the bag lay flat, so the computer falling forward isn’t an issue. Also, the handle may be a little tall for young kids, but I’m only 5’6″ and I think it’s a great height. It allows the bag to trail enough so that your heel doesn’t hit it when you walk. For little kids, you may need to drill another hole, but most adults won’t have an issue. I’ve used it as a backpack as well and it works as advertised. This is a very light bag, so not a ton of bells and whistles, but that’s a good thing. I love how light it is.I can’t really confirm its durability. I’ve only had it for a couple months. Seems to be holding up well and it came to me with no issues. Since it’s super lightweight and not very expensive, I’d buy it again as long as it lasts a couple years on the road.

A Very Good Bag
I have owned my Targus Compact Rolling Backpack for about 2 months now. I like it a great deal and it meets my needs. I use the backpack for the daily commute to my downtown office 5 days a week. I walk from the parking garage to my building and then back again after work. I walk along sidewalks that aren’t in great shape, I cross streets, and go over curbs, and my backpack rolls along easily. I read a couple of reviews that mentioned that the wheels are very loud, but they seem to be the same noise level as all the other people rolling along with their wheeled bags. It rolls quietly on the marble floors once I enter my building.I am very sastified with the capacity of the backpack. I cart my laptop and usually several 8 1/2 x 11 files that total about 1 – 2″ in thickness. In addition to the laptop and files, I am able to fit a coffee thermos and some walking shoes behind the laptop and files. At times, I have packed 4 hardback books approximately 1/2″ – 1″ thick and a note pad in the back of the bag and still had room for my walking shoes or a makeup bag. I carry a large plastic water bottle every day and that fits nicely in the open, mesh pocket on the side of the bag and I keep my computer glasses in the zipped pocket on the other side of the bag. I keep an extra power cord for my laptop in the little zipped pocket at the top front of the bag and I was surprised that there was enough room for the power cord because it’s very bulky when it’s all wound up with a velcro strap to hold it all in place. I have used the front, large zippered pocket for carrying a small makeup bag, building access badge, and pens and other items when I didn’t feel like carrying my purse, and at other times, I have used that pocket to carry my 7 x 9 1/2″ leather planner that is 1 1/2″ thick, but I can’t fit anything else in that pocket when I use it to carry the planner.The bag is holding up well so far. It is very sturdily built, and the zippers and telescoping handle work perfectly. There are two things about this bag that make it a bit difficult to use, but I don’t consider them to be too much of a nuisance: 1)When I pack my things inside of the bag I have to position the items on either side of the “bar” that houses the telescoping handle. There is still plenty of room in the bag to pack files and books despite the bar, but they don’t lie nice and flat against the back of the bag. 2) The top of the bag does not unzip all the way around the bag to fall open the way a suitcase does. It opens into an “L” shape. So I have to hold the top (the area where the laptop sleeve is) open with one hand and pack my things with the other hand. Neither of these issues is a deal breaker for me, but it keeps it from being the “perfect” bag. I did a lot of research and read many reviews about rolling laptop bags before deciding to buy the Targus. I’m very happy with my choice.

I bought this bag as I’m in the collage and my new laptop is way too heavy to be carried in my old hand-held laptop bag, especially around a huge collage building. I’m utterly thrilled with this bag, the handle is sturdy and long enough, and I’m a tall person with long arms, So, long enough handle in any carry-on or suitcase is extremally important to me, for a comfortable use, and this bag’s handle is acing that requirement of mine. The fact that this handle is also not only retractable but you can hide it in the zippable pouch when not in use is a amazing addition.The whole bag is truly durable, I’m using this bag for about 7 months now and no ware & tare of any kind is visible so far, and I put to this bag, not only my heavy, wide & bulky laptop, but heavy and extra long charger since my PPC is professional, and this bag holds also a few usb-cables, a mouse, a cooling pad and extra large mouse pad, a controller, Headphones, BL glasses, ID, recorder, LogBook, usb sticks, wallet & few pens, So it is quite a lot of different items, of a different shapes, length & weight, some less bulky than others but still, this bag is holding it all, and more if I want to pack anything else, and none of the items I pack to it, is ever misshapen or broken in any way.The wheels of this bag (at this point) are a little crooked / slanted, and I did not realized that, until I got to write this review, as in order to write the most accurate an honest review I inspected the bag in details as was writing this. Iâm not sure when this happened, or if the wheels where like that in the beginning, but if I wouldn’t inspect them at this very moment I wouldn’t know about this ââissueââ and they still working perfectly, and they never did NOT work perfectly, as seven months of constant use passed and they never felt ââchoppyââ nor they did stop the wheels from turning while they were in use, so it’s a proof, at least for me, that this is not a real problem. After all they worked and still are working and nothing seems to indicate they would stop working at any point in the near future, and who knows, maybe they supposed to be like that, maybe they were like that from the beginning (a specific design to make the wheels work better, or be more resistant to a breakage) and I never looked, so I will never know. Beside that, the wheels have some wear & tear, but I consider it normal and it would be weird if after prolong use, they would look like brand new.Surprisingly the rest of the bag looks like new, no scrapes, so loose threads of material, all zippers work same good as in the beginning and a Velcro is also same strong as it was in the beginning.I really love this bag and I do recommend it for carrying books, Electronics, clothing, and using it for school or work, and for travel.I do include the picture of this carry-on for a better review experience, as well as the video, but in advance I apologize for the video quality, as I had to video-tape it holding camera at the same time and yet I was rotating and opening the pockets of this carry-on, which proofs difficult doing it on my own. Nonetheless, I hope this review helps you make your decision about buying this carry-on bag.

This is a brilliant product and at the price at which it is sold on Amazon, it is a brilliant buy. the quality of the material is high class and so are the functionalities. There are pockets for every single thing that a business traveler will need for travel for a day or two and the laptop casing is perfect.The only place where it can get better is that the zipper does not open completely, hence at times, putting your clothes inside may be a slight inconvenience.. not much though.The delivery experience from Amazon was Amazing.
