    Perfect HomeLab Device
I needed a PoE smart switch that also supports VLAN assignments. Of course there’s Ubiquiti and I’m sure Cisco makes something that would fit the bill but the Omada series devices really do integrate well together and the controller interface is quite straightforward and easy to use. For a power user or a home lab setup, I think it’s a perfect fit.

    Can’t set static management address/vlan
I’m a network engineer and while this switch works it has an odd issue. If you want to change your management VLAN and set a static address it doesn’t seem to work. I see the router send the traffic but never see a response from the switch. The manual doesn’t match the interface and the process it provides doesn’t work to resolve the problem. So as long as you don’t want to adhere to security policies it should be fine.

WAS SENT EUROPEAN MODEL, with an EXTRA USA CHord and No Warranty
I Bought this through the “TP-Link Store”, but the device is a European Model… nothing in the description said that. The “TP-Link Store” they sent an extra USA Proper Cable with the device. The Problem is when I went to register the device, since I run a business I register all devices, it said that I COULD NOT REGISTER products OUTSIDE of the US. So, my customer needs the switch, and now I am stuck with it, and hope I never need to go to warranty anytime soon. First time this has happen…. not happy.

    Sg1016 is not Omada
Got the sg1016pe as it was listed under the omada products page. It is not an omada switch. Great stand alone device but does not work with Omada

Says its rack mountable, it’s not
Product information says this switch is rack mountable and lists a “rack mount kit” on Amazon’s product page under the “what’s in the box” section. There is no rack mount kit in the box and this switch is certainly not rack mountable. It’s several inches more narrow than than a standard 19″ rack width.

Great performance at a low price, simple managed switch which supports PoE and VLANing. Passively cooled too so no fan noise. Only complaint would be it’s not rack mountable and isn’t supplied with ears as a result, so needs an additional shelf to rack mount.

Only giving it 4 as I assumed it would be rack mountable.
