Built to withstand flying off a car (not joking)
I bought this for my son’s 3 yr birthday. He loved it, he would listen to each card for 10 seconds before sticking in the next card. Then we recorded our own cards. Now thats the only thing he needs to fall asleep at night.I also inadvertently build tested this thing – I put the player on top of my car while loading up and forgot to take it off the top of my car. 3 miles later I hear/see it fly off the top of my car at about 35mph, bounce 2 times, get hit by the car behind me.I retrieved it – 1 button had come off and the front screen had come off. Found them on the side of the road, put it all back together and EVERYTHING STILL WORKS!A drexel fixed the road burns and now it’s back on my kid’s nightstand churning out tunes!

6 year old loves it. We had the yoto mini for my 9 yo, but he wanted the big one. Definitely has better pictures on chapters. And a night light. Starter pack cards are really fun.Â

GET IT. Just plain, get it!
This is a game changer for my home. My 2 year old wouldn’t stop trying to touch the Alexa. SO, we got him his own player. HE LOVES IT! It’s a little difficult remembering how to work the very simple buttons and their functions depending on time, and the settings in the app. SO…get used to pressing buttons you think do this, but kinda do and don’t…ish. But that’s because I didn’t take enough time to read all the nuance to the device. My toddler saw it and has been stuck on it since. Absolutely glad and happy I got this for him. The library of cards to buy, the features…you can’t beat it.

We are loving the Yoto, and tell all our parent friends about it. I love how it has an app to control it from your phone. I didnât realize it can be used as a sound machine or that there are so many free things on the app. Itâs really helped my 3 yes old be more independent at bedtime.

5/5 means perfect. This is close. The reason it doesn’t get that extra half a point (4.5/5) is due to the internet/wifi/bluetooth connection. That took forever and kept popping different codes, but eventually and luckily (because I was about to return it) it connected. I did nothing different during this connection attempt, but perhaps it felt as though it was it.Pros: The pixel image on the front is WAY better than what the images on the Amazon page show. I thought it was going to be a lame duck, but the color is amazing and the image itself is much better (pixelated, but still so much better).Battery life is true and accurate as of now. Cord is appropriate length. Volume is capped at a certain max level, but it fits for what this should be used for.The cards received are of good quality! Not flimsy! Easily able to be changed by a 2yr old. Story qualities are great!

This has been just right for our four year old. We use it some mornings for the daily 10mins podcast with Jake (free) which is lively and aimed at children. Sometimes we use it to guide drawings or dancing. However, we always use it each night to listen to stories (typically needing to buy Yoto cards separately but theyâre very affordable. There are also some available for free but they are only ever available for a limited time). We also take the Yoto on long car journeys, typically surprising our little one with a new card. The screen shows one pixelated image per chapter and so itâs enough to guide a child through the story (so they can then navigate to and from their favourite chapters independently) without it feeling like theyâre glued to a screen. Thereâs also a night light and wake up light function. Best purchase Iâve made for him.

This has gone down really well with a 2-year old grandchild who loves the nursery rhymes in the starter pack. I think she’ll really grow into this and enjoy stories being read as she grows older. Hoping to record a few myself and see how that goes! Looks well made, robust and attractive, easy for a child to operate and multi-functional without being too complicated. Seems good value and additional cards not too pricy.
